2023

2023 was the year i hit 60. My work was concerned with trying to catch the sound of birdsong in painted images. 

Birdsong body of work

 This body of work reflects an element of our fragile planet, the beauty of which came to the fore during the silence of lockdowns: the dawn chorus.

 My work investigates the moments when waking birds-spared the need to “shout” over man-made noise-sang more beautifully, their pitch less strained, their phrases different.

I attempt to render, visually, the movement of song itself. Trying that is to catch the variety of pitch and volume and the dissipation of fleeting song.
